The CFL Charitable Trust has awarded funding to four people this year to assist with progress in their chosen areas of study or interest.

Sofia Arkhipkina was awarded further funding for her final year of her Master of Business Administration in Health at University College London. Sofia has embarked on a second consultancy for her final year at HCA Healthcare UK, the largest private healthcare provider in the world and one of the leading private healthcare providers in the UK.

Torin Harte was also awarded further funding for his final year of his Master of Economics degree at Montash University in Melbourne, Australia. Torin has achieved excellent grades during his studies so far, securing all High Distinctions in his classes.

The Trust also awarded funding to a familiar face on Falkland Islands Television, Darnell Christie (pictured), who will embark on a Master of Psychological Sciences degree at University College London. Darnell’s studies will cover a wide range of key areas including cognitive psychology, research methods and mental health, contributing towards a career as a clinical psychologist.

Conditional funding was also made available for Anita-Marie Rees to assist with her plan to undertake a Global Makeup Diploma. Her ambition is to return to the islands and set up her own brand cosmetics company.

CFL General Manager Janet Robertson said: “Once again this year we were pleased by the range of applications and the potential for the Trust to truly assist in broadening the scope of skills and expertise available in the Falklands.  Sometimes the return benefit to the Islands may take time to reap as studies are very often only the beginning of a lengthy period of training, but it’s exciting to see the range of career opportunities that people feel can be developed here. Congratulations to all the successful applicants!”
